I have been meaning to make a list of baby words that fill our homely soundscape. Right now the boys understand a whole lot more than they say but I wanted to do it before the beautifully half-formed-words turn into non-stop jabbering :)
Here are a few that they say on a regular basisOh, and I forgot to mention Anna - for egg (from anda in Hindi/Urdu) and aaoo - for potatoes (from aaloo in Urdu/Hindi).
Also, Ryad mimics this sound which I don't even know how to describe. Its like a mash up of sh and ff, like shfshfshf for shower.
I left out what I call 'the one time wonders'. Words that they said once or twice and then never uttered them again. I don't remember all of them but the one that took me by surprise was 'ay bay say day' - for ABC, Nael has said this twice. Each time was followed after the listening of the ABC song.
you serious? 'ay bay say day'?! Nael??!!
ReplyDeleteYup! Mummy and I bursted out laughing aloud when he said it. I think that might've startled him becuase he refused to repeat it ever again! But yes it was a clear attempt to say ABCD:)
